NOW ONE FOR THE BOYS
A new hostel for twenty blind and low vision boys at Nkope Primary School has been finished in time for occupation in January. It complements the hostel for twenty girls that was opened in May 2014 and will enable the school to provide education for an increased number of visually impaired children, setting them on a pathway to independence in their future lives.
With boys moving into their new bedrooms Aristo Mzikuola, specialist teacher said, “All the blind learners will now be comfortable and will be learning in a very good environment.” Chief Chiwalo commented that the new buildings had changed the face of Nkope.
Designed by Bill Miller in Cambridge UK and built by Bennie Building Contractors, the hostel includes accommodation for a matron and washing, toilet and laundry facilities.
