In the steps of the Bishop

For the ninth year in succession a group of walkers from All Saints’ Church, Haslingfield set out from the chapel of Gonville & Caius College, Cambridge to walk to the Church in Haslingfield in commemoration of the walk which the Rev. Charles Mackenzie used to undertake on Sundays in the mid-nineteenth century to help with services.   A little later he went to Africa as Bishop Mackenzie to help combat slavery, having heard David Livingstone speak in Cambridge.   Haslingfield Church has a memorial Mackenzie window and contributions from the commemorative walks over the years through MACS have helped with the building of a Church in Magomero, Malawi as well as classrooms and teachers’ houses.”
