Group Visits to Malawi
Our group visits are designed to allow the group of up to 11 people to experience at first hand life in rural Malawi and to meet local people. We are accompanied by Grafiud Tione, our representative and will visit some of the MACS projects he has supervised.
We learn something of Malawian history at the KuNgoni Cultural Centre at Mua. Then we move to Namaso Bay where a cottage on the beautiful shore of Lake Malawi is our base during five days spent in the nearby village of Nkope where we will do some light renovation, redecoration or conservation work at its Health Centre, Primary School or in the residential unit for blind children. We visit the homes of some of our friends and learn how to prepare their daily food.
We then move further south to Malosa with visits to St Luke’s Hospital, the Women’s Training Course at Chilema and a bicycle-taxi excursion into the bush to experience the work of the MACOBO volunteers who take medical and other care to the needy of local villages. We may visit Zomba market and picnic on the mountain.
A night at Mvuu Camp in the Liwonde National Park with land and boat safaris provides well-earned relaxation before our return to Lilongwe via the pottery at Dedza.
Travellers try to raise money to cover materials for the work to be undertaken, fulfilment of needs we shall find on the way and for other MACS projects large and small.
